him.
[33] The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
[34] Wait on the
LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou
shalt see it.
[35] I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
[36]
Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
[37] Mark the
perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
[38] But the transgressors shall be
destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
[39] But the salvation of the righteous is of the
LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
[40] And the LORD shall help them and deliver them: he
shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Pss.38
[1] O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
[2] For thine arrows
stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.
[3] There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine
anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.
[4] For mine iniquities are gone over mine
head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
[5] My wounds stink and are corrupt because of
my foolishness.
[6] I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
[7] For my
loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
[8] I am feeble and sore
broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.
[9] Lord, all my desire is before thee; and
my groaning is not hid from thee.
[10] My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine
eyes, it also is gone from me.
[11] My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; and my kinsmen
stand afar off.
[12] They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak
mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.
[13] But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was
as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
[14] Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose
mouth are no reproofs.
[15] For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.
[16] For I
said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves
against me.
[17] For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me.
[18] For I will declare
mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin.
[19] But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that
hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
[20] They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because
I follow the thing that good is.
[21] Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.
[22] Make
haste to help me, O Lord my salvation.
Pss.39
[1] I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle,
while the wicked is before me.
[2] I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my
sorrow was stirred.
[3] My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with
my tongue,
[4] LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may
know how frail I am.
[5] Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing
before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
[6] Surely every man walketh in
a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather
them.
[7] And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
[8] Deliver me from all my transgressions: make
me not the reproach of the foolish.
[9] I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
[10]
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
[11] When thou with rebukes
dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is
vanity. Selah.
[12] Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for
I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
[13] O spare me, that I may recover
strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
Pss.40
[1] I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
[2] He brought me up also
out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
[3]
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and
shall trust in the LORD.
[4] Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the
