or conceptacle containing only large spores; opposed to microsporangium. Both are found in the
genera Selaginella, Isoctes, and Marsilia, plants remotely allied to ferns.

Mactra

the genus Mactra, and allied genera. Many species are known. Some of them are used as food, as
Mactra stultorum, of Europe. See Surf clam, under Surf.
