1844.The place (Codungalur) is identified with Tiruvan-jiculam
river-harbour, which Cheraman Perumal is said to have declared the best of the existing 18 harbours
of Kerala.

One Kerala Ulpatti (i.e. legendary history
of Malabar) of the Nasrani, says that their forefathers
built Codangalur, as may be learned from the
granite inscription at the northern entrance of the Tiruvan-jiculam temple.
